Today we’re going to talk about idioms that will increase your vocabulary. You can use these idioms in your conversation to make it more interesting, and you can also use them in your writings .

1. THE CARDS ARE STACKED AGAINST :

Meaning : Someone or something is unlikely to be successful due to existing obstacles or circumstances.

Example : How can I accomplish anything when the cards are stacked against me?

2. PUT THEIR HEADS TOGETHER :

Meaning : When two or more people put their heads together , they plan something together .

Example : Let’s put our heads together and figure out what we can give Ankit for his birthday .

3. THROUGH THICK AND THIN :

Meaning : under all conditions and circumstances , no matters how difficult .

Example : We have been together through all thick and thin and we won’t leave each other now.

4. HAVE ANTS IN YOUR PANTS :

Meaning : because you are very excited or worried about something .

Example : she has ants in her pants because she is going to party tonight .

5. AS BLIND AS A BAT :

Meaning : used to describe someone who refuses to notice an obvious things.

Example : He is as blind as a bat when it comes to Pooja’s rude behaviour.

6. GETS ON YOUR MIND :

Meaning : to annoy someone a lot.

Example : Sometimes watching TV really gets on my nerves because of the commercials .
